At Ivy Prep, we believe that success in math requires more than just learning algorithms. To succeed at math, students need to understand concepts and principles, to organize mathematical information in a meaningful way, to present their calculations in a manner that others can follow, and to monitor their work in a careful and clear manner.
When developing a math curriculum for our students, we focus on the student’s learning style and how it is best utilized in light of the school’s particular curriculum and methodology. We reinforce mathematical principles and steps so that the method of instruction matches the individual student’s learning style. We also provide students with reference guides for independent work that review the work in a presentation that is consistent with their own method of learning. We also provide specific “drill and practice” materials to help sharpen basic math skills.
